Thank god the Pines round is done and (literally) dusted. I hate racing there at the best of times, and with 75 riders in front of me it was always going to be tough.

Midlands XC - Cannock Chase
Guys at go run and ride events did a blinding job, it what turned out to be rather inclement wether.
Good news is that everyone enjoyed it, and the course actually rode well in the deluge.
I felt comfortable in the lead 4 for the first 3 laps, only to have my first mechanical in.... Maybe 2 years. Nipple pulled out and jammed down the back of the cassette. Gutted.
Taking what I can from the race, which is that my form is building ok, and my technical skills get the job done. Now I'm looking forward to the pines!

NCRA
scratch group consisted of myself, Rich Jones and 1st - 3rd place from last week. The 5 of us set of at a reasonable pace, and instantly dropped 2 of the big (s)hitters from last week. Not sure they'll opt for the scratch group again!

Weekend Roundup
Well it didn't really go to plan. The catch group was small, and not on form for the handicapped road race and we fought hard against the wind. Ended up nowhere, but that's racing.
Sunday's MTB race was a wash out. Struggled with form through being I'll, and after an hour decided that there was more to lose than gain.
Now on my return to fitness!
